Need help with my daughters hair?

My husband is black and I'm white. Our daughter has my texture hair, but very thick and corkscrew curly. I have tried hundreds of dollars worth of hair products and nothing really does what I think it should. I would like to find something that makes her hair easier to comb out and then helps it to remain smooth and soft, rather than getting dry and curling up tight and knotting up. Is there such a product on the market? I've been to salons and none of their suggestions have really helped much. Right now I'm using Mizani products but they aren't really any better than cheaper stuff. I don't care much about the price, I just want something that works.

Go to this site: http://www.curlykids.com It has lots of products, techniques, and styling ideas for multiracial and other curly-haired kids. Please don't straighten it.

one word CONDITIONER, you need a leave in/detangling spray, and then a heavy styling cream that remains creamy and doesnt get that "crunchy" feel. There are products by Kusco Murphy which I love, the conditioning spray (wich smells like the beach) and there Lavender creme. You would just put the cream in your hands, rub together, and put it on the lenghts of her hair first then the roots.

My friend has the same exact prob. and she ended up using(and dont laugh) that johnson and johnson detangler with conditioner in it. It weighs her hair down and it stays nice and springy . good luck

My cousin uses baby oil on her little girls hair. She is mixed too. It looks just fine. What kind of salons are you taking her to? If you haven't tried a salon that specializes in ethnic hair, that would be a good idea. : )

have you tried any detangler or hair serum or maybe a blow drying diffuser? hope that helps :)

My friend has the same problem.

What she does is gets some non tangle spray and puts some on after a bath with shampoo and condinature. The spray and the condinature really helped!

She has mixed hair. I would suggest going to an ethic beauty shop and getting products like pink lotion, comb out lotion, etc...

Then you have to figure out, what is it You are trying to do to her hair. Be practical... Maybe two pigtail french braids, you could swoop her hair into a ponytail and twist the end...

I think if you found yourself a beautyshop (that has hair products for all ethnicities then you'll be able to ask around or purchase a magizine fron in there...

There is a product you can buy at a few different places, its called olive oil, (no not real oil) but it is an olive oil based product. The bottle is green. A friend of mine told me about it after she had the same problem with her daughters hair, I have told a few of my other friends about it that also have daughters and they all seem to like it. It also helps their scalp to not be dry. I personally have never tried it, I have a son he his also biracial but i have never had a problem with his hair, its thick and straight.

I'm not sure where to get it, but the last person I told about it she actually found it at a dollar store, I was shocked to hear that since the first person found it for around $8.00.

I hope this helps you. Good Luck

Buy Some Good Shampoo And Conditioner(Like Pannteen) And Buy A Good Hair Strainer.I'm Not Sure It Will Work But It Won't Hurt To try.

Need help with my daughters hair?

i have that problem once...

first don't try to straighten her hair if she really have curly hair..

i tried that but it didn't worked because my curl is natural... comb it and put baby oil or anything that will make it smooth..

don't always comb her hair because it will be ugly and look stiff.. comb her hair maybe after 4 to 5 months... if you want her to comb everyday just use her fingers not combs with teeth...

that's what I'm doing now... no need for expensive products..

It's always tough to maintain kids' hair. they play so hard and don't care one-iota about their hair or looks. aaah those were the days. I don't think you are going to find a miracle solution, but her curls sound beautiful. I suggest always conditioning and keeping it a bit short for now-like shoulder length. I hope you don't straighten it but maybe a conditioner or palmade that smooths hair will help keep it softer and manageable. Also try to keep it up in braids and pony tails as much as possible. as a kid my mom kept mine up all the time.. i hated it sometimes but my fine straight hair would get knotty if she didn't. Lastly, I hear you don't need to wash curly hair as often. As she gets older she will be able to Handel it better but for now prevention is your best option. Good luck!
