I have short hair. I'd like to grow it longer (long enough to comb) but every single time I get out of the shower and dry my hair, it "poofs" out and I look like I have a ridiculous afro. Can someone out there PLEASE tell me what, if anything, I can do?
Why does my hair "poof" out?
Get a shampoo that is anti-frizz- or frizz-eezz or even a shampoo that says for puffiness (sp?) You can find it at wal-mart or just about any drug store out there! Good luck! God bless!

Why does my hair "poof" out?
Well, you can use a heavy conditioner in it (deep moisturizing one) and then put a little tiny bit of that silicone serum stuff........it's like a frizzy hair tamer plus you can thin it out with thinning shears(about 6 to 7 bucks at wal mart) Lift hair and thin it about 2 inches from the ends or 1 inch from the ends depending on how short your hair is.
Why does my hair "poof" out?
There are so many reasons why your hair is "poofy". It could be severely damaged, it could be naturally curly or wavy and that by itself could make it poof out. Maybe the shampoo you use is doing it. Men use the cheapest shampoo. some of them even use plain old soap. This could really give you a crazy hair do. Always use a conditioner after shampoo, this is very important. shampoo opens the hair shaft and conditioner closes it. You can get a decent conditioner at Wal-Mart like Pantene, they make a conditioner for every hair type. If you want it to be curlier you can get something that makes the curl come alive, if you want your hair straighter, you can get a conditioner that tames your hair a little better. Now, if you have hair that is so curly you look like you put your finger in a light socket, don't expect a lot, it is only a product and it doesn't work miracles. A good cheap conditioner is Queen Helene Cholesterol, it is only about $3.00 and it does wonders on your hair. Try it at least twice a week for a while and let your hair dry by itself, don't rub your hair with the towel, it is bad on your hair. You say you have short hair? Do what I said to do and let your hair grow out and let it do what it wants to do. Wash it, condition it, leave it alone. Only comb it when it is dry with a wide tooth comb, and even that doesn't need to be done a lot, also don't wash it everyday. If you have to just wet it and then put a conditioner on it. And you will have hair that all the ladies can't resist putting their fingers in. Trust me I know what I'm talking about. I treat my hair the same way. I have long blonde hair and everywhere I go people tell me how pretty my hair is. Also I am a beautician.
