How do I back comb my hair?

I love wearing these cute wide headbands that are so 'in' right now, but how do I get that volume right behind the headband? Mine always looks flat and I know you have to tease the hair and then cover it with smooth hair, but how to I do that? Think Lauren Conrad from The Hills. I have the bangs and stuff down pat, I just need the little poof.

I answer this question a lot n Yahoo Answers, and the best thing to do is YOUTUBE it. There are loooots and lots of great videos out there, so just search for "how to back comb hair" or "how to tease hair".

Literally comb it backwards. Hold the section of hair that you want backcombed up, and comb from the ends towards the roots. Be careful though, because this can really damage your hair.

use a water spay to slightly et your hair. when you dry your hair after a bath or shower, dont put it in a parting, keep brushing it backwards.

when styling your hair, add about a pea sixe amount of jell to your hair, this will ensure that it stays in place.

hope ive helped........ooh add a little airspray for a perfect finish

Pick up small sections at a time where you want the poof, have a volumizing comb and hairspray ready. Hold the hair straight up and spay just a little, then take the comb and comb down the shaft of the hair. It will kind of mat it make it poof up. Keep doing this until you get the right amount of poof.

there's some good videos on youtube if you search backcomb or tease hair. but otherwise you need a rat tooth comb or just a comb with bristles that are really close together and some hair mold or gel, i use Bed Head Manipulator.

first put a little bit of the hair mold/gel throughout the parts you want to tease. then take a section of hair and hold it upwards, start at the top with the comb, and brush down and out over and over till you get down to the roots. you can also go back and forth with the comb too. keep doing that to every section of your hair and then take a flat brush and brush over the top really lightly just to make the top not look frizzy and tangled, don't do it so hard as to untangle the bottom though, which is what gives your hair the lift. and then just put tons of hairspray on your hair. i recommend got2b glued which i got at target and works really good to hold the style.

To backcomb your hair you need to leave it for a day (so on your off-wash day) for full effect. Scrunch hair with a volumizing mousse (Shockwaves Volumizing Mousse is good) - always from tip to root.

Now get a comb- fine toothed, hold a section of hair out and from the tip draw back the hair to the root and continue.

USE A EXTRA HOLD hair spray all over the hair but especially at the roots.

If you have washed your hair (DONT CONDITION; TO DO SO WILL FLATTEN), spray the roots with hairspray when wet, back comb, blow dry, back comb and apply more hairspray. Always scrunch/ mess hair up if you want big- but for the beehive look push from the roots up.

Be warned- excessive backcombing will lead to lots of split ends and hair will become dry/coarse. Always condition the day after back combing and don't do it too many times a week.

Extra hold hair spray, mousse and backcombing technique will satisfy you, I'm sure.
