What is the best method for using hair conditioner?

ive got really frizzy hair, and the way ive been applying conditioner for years now is by mixing it in my palms then applying it to my hair from root to tip by using my hands/fingers like a comb for a couple of minutes, and then continuing to run my hands through my hair [its really long-up to my waist].

anyways, i leave it on for anywhere between 5-15minz and rinse. at the end i give my hair a shot of cold water [coz apparently it makes the hair more shinier?]

but the thing is, in the end, when my hair dries (usually naturally), theres is a LOT of frizz?! ive even used serum and they dont work!

what ive noticed though is that by the next day (say about 12-24hrs) after i wash my hair, is when all the flyaways and frizz really calms down, and my hair looks good, but then by that time its time to wash it again!!!

i really need some tips on improving my "putting on conditioner method"! please help!!

What is the best method for using hair conditioner?

Your conditioning method is good, i think so don't worry too much about that because you leave it in and rinse. i think it is just the fact that you leave it to dry. any type of hair that is long enough will dry frizzy if you let it!! Its just the natural thing hair does!! i would advise using heat protecting spray then blow drying the hair downwards for a bit ( i no it will take for ever because your hair is so long) on a high heat , mainly the bottoms. well i take it the top aint as frizzy as the bottom. hope i helped and someone will probly give you a better answer in addition to mine!! good luck!

Hey " m k"...I usually put it after shampooing...then let it rest for some 10 mins...

What is the best method for using hair conditioner?

Sounds like your doing a good job with the conditioning, but what about the shampooing part, do you "scrub" your hair when you shampoo it, if you do this could be the reason for your frizz, just gently massage the shampoo through your hair instead. If that doesn't work than maybe thats just the way your hair is, try using the frizz ease products they are very good.

What is the best method for using hair conditioner?

cut all your hair off, place in a basin ,sprinkle 2 metric handfulls of conditioner on top 1 bottle ov olive oil (cheap stuff) top up with water soak for three weeks, rinse in clear water ,iron dry glue back on napper .Ther ye go man straight shiny hair lasts for 3 month ....

What is the best method for using hair conditioner?

that is a very good way of conditioning your hair.

and i agree with all these other answers try some serums and blow dry hair down.

only extra advice i could give is DONT condition the roots.

i dont as it can make the hair shinier at the roots it looks like grease rather than shine. so if u aplly conditioner from about your ears to tips then when your hair is looking nice the next day it may not quite be time to wash it as it doesnt look as greasy!

give it a try its what i do and it works well!

good luck x

i use comfort fabric conditioner on my hair about once a week and it really softens it. It might sound crazy but it really does work just make sure that you rinse it off well.

I think you sound like you are doing fine with your conditioning method.

I also find my frizz calms down after a day or so, but strangely enough I find that leaving my hair to dry naturally actually makes the frizz worse. Blow drying it does help a lot - have you tried one of the ionic hairdryers as I think they really work; I even give my hair a quick blast with mine when it is dry and I want to put it in a ponytail as it seems to calm the flyaway bits!

Your applying conditioner method sounds good, although if you dont apply conditioner to the roots of your hair it wont go greasy as quickly.

Lee Stafford Styling Range (available from boots) are amazing. they have lots of products, all suited perfectly to different peoples needs. They are in bright pink bottles and are easy to spot so go in have a look, they work for me!

I would think your hair is frizzy because you said that it is very long maby you should try to get a trim or add some layers. Get vitamains. DRINK WATER.
